What are the department requirements for admission to the USF Ph.D. program in Geology?
• A completed Application • A Master’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline • A minimum of a 3.0 GPA in all work prior to admission • A 1200 on the combined verbal and quantitative section of the GRE • At least three strong letters of recommendation from faculty in both undergraduate and graduate programs of the applicant A structured field course (normally a summer field course in geology) is recommended. Deficiencies in course work will be determined by the department Graduate Committee, which consists of three or more members of the Geology Department faculty. Applicants will be notified of coursework deficiencies at the time of admission. Deficiencies must be made up in the first year of full time study, or equivalent for part-time students.
