What are the defining features of a Specialist Schools?
Specialist Schools were set up by the DFeS (now DCSF) in the early 90s in order to facilitate the development of specialist curriculum areas and to enable networks through which schools could support each other in moving standards of achievement forward. By affiliating to the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) South Hunsley has access to a powerful and unique network of national and international schools, committed to raising standards of achievement and transforming education through the sharing of innovative practice. The focus now is very much on personalised learning, ICT developments and innovative learning experiences.
