What are the deficiencies of using stretch wrap?
Stretch wrap or film attempts to contain the load by placing exterior stress or pressure on the outside surface area of the unit load. This pressure can deform packaging and cause packages to lose integrity and collapse. Box strength is primarily concentrated in the corners of the box. In order to maximize strength while stacking, boxes require very good alignment. Stretch film does not maintain alignment of cases. During transportation, tier shifting occurs within the wrapped load and causes the box corners to come out of alignment. This can result in boxes collapsing under the weight of the load. In contrast to stretch film, Lock n’ Pop works by bonding each box in the unit load together, thereby maintaining alignment of the cases. This eliminates the need for exterior wrap compression, and preserves the look and integrity of the boxes.
