What are the default file permissions for GeneSpring data on Bio-Linux?
As of version 7.3 of GeneSpring, the default settings for the bio-linux-genespring package assume that a particular group of users on the machine should have access to GeneSpring and all of the data within it. If this is not the case, you must devise your own, more detailed, permissions scheme and remove some of the Bio-Linux customisations. When a user runs GeneSpring on Bio-Linux, a wrapper script checks if that user is part of the gsusers user group. If they are not, they are allowed to proceed but are warned that they may not be able to save their work. The user is advised to ask their system administrator to run the addgsusers.sh script. Note: if you have not yet upgraded the bio-linux-genespring package and are planning to do so, please run: apt-get clean, before installing the bio-linux-genespring package. This is due to a bug in the addusers.sh script. If you have already installed GeneSpring 7.3 you may have come across an error relating to usermod usage. We recommend you down
