On May 31, 2007, KEY LARGO debuted Phase 2 of the Coast Guard’s biometrics proof of concept. KEY LARGO interdicted 40 DR and Haitian Nationals 3 NM West of Mayaguez. 8 migrants were transferred ashore to CBP for prosecution by the US Attorney’s office. In July 2007, the crew of the KEY LARGO spent the day volunteering at a foster home named “El Hogar Del Nino El Ave Maria,” which is located in Bayamon.
