What are the dates for the TallShips®LA event?
What is a tall ship? A “tall ship” is any sailing vessel that provides sail training and participates in events such as the tall ship races. Tall Ships is a registered trademark of the American Sail Training Association. Is TallShips®LA associated with ASTA’s Tall Ship Challenge®? Yes, The Port of Los Angeles is the sixth port of call in the American Sail Training Association’s Pacific Coast 2005 Tall Ships Challenge® Series that originated in Vancouver B.C., and will conclude in San Diego later this month. The Port of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Maritime Institute are co-hosting this event. What types of vessels will be participating? TallShips®LA will host Class A and Class B tall ships of various vessel types such as brigantines, brig, ketch, topsail schooners, cutters and a naval barque. How many ships will be at the event?
