What are the data usage costs incured by Skype calls?
We recommend to use WiFi connection where available because it does not incur any data usage costs. Data usage costs over 3G and GPRS depend on your mobile provider’s rates. However, as the bandwidth used by fring is quite low, these costs are also low. To help you make an estimate, fring uses approximately 14 MB for a 60 min call on Windows Mobile phones and approximately 8 MB on Symbian OS phones. So, if you purchase, for example, a 50 MB prepaid plan you will be able to talk for more than 3 hours on a Windows Mobile phone and more than 6 hours on a Symbian OS phone. If you don’t use fring but use Skype Mobile directly (in case your phone really supports Skype Mobile), data usage costs will be essentially higher because of the high bandwidth used by Skype.
