What are the dangers of using gamma rays?
Gamma rays are high energy photons. They are ionizing radiation and penetrate quite far. They are used to treat cancer and in nondestructive evaluation. There are both man made sources (accelerators) and natural sources (unstable isotopes, which can also be made in reactors). They can be dangerous when not shielded appropriately. You should consult an expert before attempting anything with gammas, as shielding is needed and very heavy.
