What are the dangers of Radiation therapy?

0

Radiation can leave patients suffering life long side effects. Long-term damage can appear as fibrosis (an overgrowing of healthy cells as they go into overdrive to repair the radiotherapy damage) or necrosis (the death of the tissue, causing open holes or fistulas). Radiotherapy can also damage nerves, reducing blood circulation or cause breathing difficulties, with side-effects often not appearing for several years after treatment. It works by bombarding the tumour or tumour site with x-rays to try and kill the dividing cancer cells but in doing so, it inevitably affects surrounding healthy cells. Radiation therapy can cause cancer. Marie Curie discovered radiation…and died from it. It is not the cure as not everyone survives this type of therapy. If you are “lucky” your cancer may be eradicated but you may suffer permanent side effects because of it or may die from radiation treatment. Radiation side effects and deaths i have seen in blogs: permanent paralysis, kidney failure, fat
