What are the customs rules upon entering China?
You may enter China with up to two bottles of wine or liquor totaling no more than 1.5 liters; 400 cigarettes or 100 cigars or 500 grams of cut tobacco. Passengers under 16 years old are not allowed to carry any cigarettes or liquor. You may also carry a camera, a potable tape recorder, a small movie camera, a portable video camera, and a portable word processor. There are no restrictions on bringing foreign currency or precious metals into China, but it is required that a customs declaration be made for currency greater than US$5,000, and/or precious metals of more than 50 grams. Upon entering or leaving China there is a 6,000 yuan restriction on carrying Chinese currency. Chinese Narcotics, pornographic materials and firearms are strictly prohibited.
