The standard for Internet based Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) is the Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) standard. Requirements are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Agencies are not to connect external partners, customers or suppliers without review and approval from District Information Security Program (DCISP). Any undocumented and/or unapproved connections will be considered to be a security breach to the DCWAN, and will be disconnected immediately pending a vulnerability review by the DCISP.
