A good candidate for an ELA scoring committee should have the following capabilities: English language arts expertise, experience with scoring open-ended questions (including the use of rubrics), and one or more years of teaching the specified or adjacent grade levels to be scored. Additional recommendations for selecting scorers can be found in the 2008 School Administrator’s Manual for Public and Nonpublic Schools.
