What are the criteria for a core path?
A route has to be identified by over 33% of those attending a community consultation; it must provide one of the following functions: Safe route to school; Link between residential areas; Link between residential areas and services; Coastal path; FCS recreational route; Link between residential areas and places of interest; Encourages green transport to work; Route to place of interest; or other strategic route; Established Right of Way; Used as Health Walk; Provides access to public transport; Circular route; Supports economic development; Improves quality of life in community regeneration areas. It must be primarily off-road and have signage and appropriate furniture, (such as gates and bridges) or will have within 2 years of the plan becoming operational.
