What are the CPD requirements?
The CPD requirements are 60 formal hours of which at least 40 hours must be formal over each three-year cycle (the balance of 20 hours can be all formal, all informal or a mix of both). There is however a minimum requirement in each year of the cycle of 15 hours of which at least 10 hours must be formal (the balance of 5 hours can be all formal, all informal or a mix of both). Please note however, that the minimum annual requirements do not add up to overall cycle requirements. The balance of 20 hours may be comprised of either formal or informal activities, or it may comprise a mix of both formal and informal activities. So on average an individual should aim to complete 20 hours a year of which at least 13 or 14 should be formal to ensure they meet both their yearly and overall cycle requirements. The CPD scheme runs in three-year rotational cycles. The current cycle runs from 1st January – 31st December 2009. If you join the 3-year cycle mid-way your CPD hours will be adjusted accor
