What are the courses of action available if we don agree with the IEP evaluation and the IEP eligibility decision?
If you feel the IEP evaluation was not an appropriate measure of your child’s ability and/or achievement as assessed through the IEP evaluation process, you have the opportunity to request an Independent Evaluation at the schoo’s expense. The district has 15 days to respond to your request either in a “yes” or “no” with explanation form. As a former adminstrator for Federal Way Public Schools, I have always used directed parents to their website for clear information about the IEP process including Independent Evaluation resources. http://www.fwps.org/info/policies/2000/2161p.htm.
