What are the course work requirements for the clinical doctoral program?
Doctoral programs will initially be offered as advanced training programs on top of existing master’s level programs. Doctoral programs are required to be 4,000 hours in length, 1,200 hours of which must be at the doctoral level (this means, practically-speaking, that doctoral programs will consist of 1,200 or more hours of course work beyond existing master’s programs). At least 650 hours of clinical training is required in settings such as hospitals which allow for direct interaction with allopathic health care providers, as well as specialty training in at least one clinical specialty area. Finally, doctoral programs will provide sufficient research competencies to enable practitioners to be educated consumers of the scientific literature in the field to support their professional practices. .
