What are the costs of DSL?
There are 4 costs involved with DSL. There are startup costs from your telephone company for installing the DSL and the associated hardware, and a startup cost from Spire Technologies (currently $35). Then there will be monthly charges from the telephone company as well as monthly charges from Spire Technologies. Because the phone companies run frequent specials their costs vary. Many offer free (or reduced cost) hardware for commiting to a year of service (still paid monthly). For the two monthly charges associated with DSL, the faster your connection, the greater your costs. The telephone charges are around $15/month for the lowest speed, and Spire Technologies charges $15.95/month for personal access at that speed (business accounts are more and include more services).
