What are the costs of connecting to TransACT?
• This is difficult to answer! The costs will depend on a number of factors, including which of the options described earlier (“status quo”, “narrowband”, and “broadband”) TIP decides to follow, plus your personal circumstances (are you going to connect to TransACT, and if so, what packages/services will you subscribe to?). However, we assume that most people asking this question are asking about the costs of broadband access. All we can say at this stage is that the costs would consist of the TransACT charges (see the TransACT Web site for details) plus TIP charges. The TIP charges for connection via TransACT will be higher than current charges for dialup connections, and most likely volume-based (you will be charged per MB of data downloaded) rather than the time-based charging used for dialup connections (where you are charged for time online).
