What are the costs involved?
Costs vary considerably between institutions. Course fees are paid to the University of Stirling in the normal way: you do not pay tuition at the host destination. You are entitled to any loans/grants you already receive. Some exchanges include accommodation costs, but most do not. Additional costs for students taking part are those of travel and insurance. As the cost of living differs amongst our partner institutions, this is reflected in the participation fees detailed on our costs page.
We believe that reputable firms do not charge upfront fees of any kind for financing. Therefore, all our efforts are free unless you receive money. Once you are approved and funds become available to you, we have a Success Fee equal to 8.9% of the loan amount you receive. This can be paid directly from your proceeds. Click here to GET STARTED. The costs for each participating local community will depend on the level and intensity of their engagement with the programme, the number of initiatives and good practice exchanges they plan in the context of the programme. As a rule of thumb, a local authority would typically need to cover the cost of a local co-ordinator (full- or part-time), translation and interpretation (usually from and to English), local meeting costs and PR. There would be a possibility for covering some of the international travel/meeting costs. We are actively raising funds at the moment in order to be able to cover most of the international costs for cities. International expertise, facilitation, documentation, co-ordination and management costs will be covered by the programme budget (which is approximately 650.000 € for a period of two years) Local activities (public events, projects, trainings, etc.) resulting from the programme will need to be cover by local resources and or additional fundraising. Celebrities’ individual fees vary greatly; you will pay anything between +- R10,000.00 and R50,000.00 ex VAT for a star to appear at your event. Apart from the appearance fee, you would also need to cover all production costs (stage, lighting, sound equipment, etc), travel costs (depending on the location of your event in relation to the performer’s home base), and hospitality expenses (food, beverages, accommodation, etc). We are happy to coordinate travel and miscellaneous bookings on your behalf, and will quote for these on request. We will send you a comprehensive quote on the celeb(s) that you are interested in, detailing all possible exclusions, so there should be no surprises! Upon acceptance of quote, you will receive a contract further detailing all costs.
