What are the costs associated with the Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program?
A. At an average of 0.78% per year, the Program’s total fee is among the lowest charged by national donor-advised funds. In addition, our costs are much lower than those involved with starting and maintaining a private foundation. The Program charges no front-end, back-end or trailer fees. The Program fee has two main components: administrative and investment expenses. The investment fee varies by investment pool. For accounts in the Standard Pools, both expenses are figured into the investment pool net asset values on a daily basis. Therefore, as with most mutual funds, the fees do not appear as line items on the statement, but are instead reflected in the daily pool prices. The investment fee is handled in exactly the same way for accounts with balances over $1 million that qualify for the Program’s Select Pools, but the reduced administrative fees are handled differently. For these pools, while the administrative fee varies with account balance (see fee chart), only 0.12% per annum
