What are the costs associated with foster/adoption through Lilliput Childrens Services?
Q. What are the costs associated with adoption through Lilliput Children’s Services? Lilliput waives the adoption home study fees for families adopting children from the foster care system. There is a $100 fee for training materials, and an additional fee to process the fingerprint/background checks. California allows reimbursement of up to $400 per child for adoption related expenses after a child’s adoption is complete. There are also additional tax credits that you may be eligible for. A tax accountant can advise on this. Some employers offer adoption incentive plans. On occasion, additional fees may be applied by the county, however, most often fees are waived for foster/adoptions. Lilliput charges a fee-for-service to provide adoption home studies or services to families wishing to adopt a child not in the foster system and who are already working with an attorney or adoption agency. We are unable to provide home studies for International adoptions.
