When a person that meets registration criteria of a sex offender is paroled, released on probation, discharged upon payment of a fine, released after confinement in a county jail, discharged or otherwise released from any correctional facility of the department of corrections or mental health institution, the person shall be informed by the official in charge of the duty to register.
