What are the copyright rules concerning e-Reserves?
Course Reserves materials must be in compliance with US Copyright Law. Under “fair use” only one chapter or 10% of the work, whichever is less, may be posted on e-Reserves without seeking copyright clearance from the publisher. According to Section 107 of the US Copyright Act, “fair use” is determined based on weighing four factors: the purpose and character of use, the nature of the work, the amount used relative to the work as a whole, and the effect use may have on the potential market for or value of the work.
