Basically, if it is your own work you can consider it copy right protected as soon as it is finished. I protect my work product, poetry, with a (C) or a (R), registered, and this is sufficient until you can apply for certification. The forms are PDF files and can be downloaded, pay the amount, and mail it to them. If the work is someone Else’s you have to have them sign a release to use their work in your work and give them proper attribution.
