What are the contraindications to DTaP/IPV/Hib?

There are very few children who cannot have the DTaP/IPV/Hib vaccine. This vaccine should not be given to children who: • have had an anaphylactic reaction to a previous dose or • have had an anaphylactic reaction to any part of the vaccine (including neomycin, streptomycin and polymixin B which may be present in trace amounts). If your child is ill with a fever, you should put off immunisation until he or she has recovered. This is to avoid wrongly associating the cause of fever with the vaccine and to avoid increasing any already existing fever. If your child has a minor illness without a fever, like a cold or cough, he or she should be immunised.
