What are the contractual responsibilities and ethical boundaries of a department head/teacher leader?
There is no specific language in the VBE/VTF Collective Agreement about the contractual responsibilities of department heads. Like all members of the BCTF, department heads are expected to adhere to the Code of Ethics, the general rules for all members for maintaining high standards of professional service and conduct towards students, colleagues, and the professional union. Department Heads do not supervise teachers. They are the peer and equal of all teachers.
