What are the contra-indications for ESWT?
Because a small amount of bruising is expected, any blood-clotting impairment should be considered as a contraindication. Blood clotting disorders can either be intrinsic i.e. haemophilia, or brought about as a result of medication i.e. Warfarin, Heparin and large doses of Aspirin. Medication can often, however be modified in preparation for treatment. Your urologist will be able to advise accordingly.
