What are the Continuity Care Clinics like?

The residents have their own resident-centered, private clinics, where they see their own panel of patients and follow these patients throughout their 3 years at Ochsner. The general medicine continuity clinic experience consists of one half-day clinic per week for all PGY levels (categorical), except during vacation, ICU, and night float rotations. As the resident progresses through the program, they will gain more independence, eventually virtually independently managing their own clinics, with their own medical assistants, schedulers, and support staff. Residents acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate and manage a variety of outpatient medical complaints and conditions and leave Ochsner prepared to open and run an independent private practice.
