What Are the Consequences for a First-Degree Misdemeanor in Ohio?
Misdemeanors aren’t as serious as felonies, but still can have serious consequences. A first degree misdemeanor is the most serious misdemeanor charge in Ohio. A felony conviction allows the court to sentence the offender to state prison, while punishment for a first degree misdemeanor is up to 180 days in jail. Sentences for misdemeanors may also include fines, required treatment programs or residence in a halfway house or addiction treatment facility.
