What are the connections between irish people and celtic fc?
One of the great myths of Scottish football is that simply because the Parkhead club were founded by Catholic priests and draw much of their ‘support’ from descendants of Irish immigrants, that the Irish people of today are fans of Celtic. In truth, the percentage of Irish who actually “follow” and support Celtic is less than those who “follow” and support Rangers. Most Irish have very little interest in the game of football…the numbers who are fans of Gaelic football, Hurling, Rugby or simply don’t follow sports at all…far outnumber those with an interest in the round ball game. As to who I think the Celts will sign next month, I don’t know.
