What are the conditions for child employment supervision and Working with Children Checks?

0

Supervisors of working children are required to hold a current Working with Children (WWC) Check card under the Working with Children Act 2005. A WWC Check card is granted after successfully undergoing a WWC Check. This replaces the previous Victoria Police check and statutory declaration process. An employer of a child must ensure that the child is directly and adequately supervised at all times by a person who has a current WWC Check card, unless that person qualifies for an exemption (such as a person who the child is closely related to). A supervisor should be provided with appropriate training. In particular, the supervisor should be trained to recognise health and safety hazards including teasing, bullying and harassment. For further information on supervision requirements and WWC Checks visit www.workforce.vic.gov.au or contact a Child Employment Officer on 1800 287 287.
