WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS OF THE UTAH STATE BAR EXAMINATION?
The Utah Student Bar Examination is a two day examination, consisting of a one-day written component and a one-day Multistate Bar Examination (“MBE”) component. The total time allotted the written component is seven hours. The total time for the MBE component is six hours. a. The Written Component. The written component is administered on the first day. It consists of eight essay questions and two Multistate Performance Test (“MPT”) questions: four essays and 1 MPT question in the morning session and four essays and 1 MPT question in the afternoon. Attorneys who have been licensed to practice law for five years in another jurisdiction and have been substantially and lawfully engaged in the practice of law in that jurisdiction for four of the preceding five years are only required to take the written portion of the examination.
