The goal of a landfill gas control plan is to prevent people from being exposed to landfill gas emissions. This goal can be achieved by either collecting and treating landfill gas at the landfill or by preventing landfill gas from entering buildings and homes in the community. Technologies used to control landfill gas at the landfill or in the community can be applied separately or in combination. Note that the NSPS/ EG requires a gas collection and control system design plan for landfills that meet the criteria presented on the next page.
