What are the community service expectations, projects, and process for all MYP students?

A. Service will be a part of the school curriculum so that all students can access opportunities with the help and guidance of school staff. Reflection on all service will remain a critical part of the process, and the classroom teacher will devise reflection opportunities so that students can appreciate what they are giving and what they are getting from the experience. Many students will do more. Your child might be active in church as a volunteer, with scouts or some other club/organization. Perhaps they rake leaves or shovel snow for an elderly neighbor, or even help a teacher after school on a project. Students who speak at IB Orientation nights to share their experiences are also doing a great service! Students who choose to keep track of their hours and get them verified should turn them in to their humanities teachers. Exemplary hours will be recognized at the end of the year.
