What are the Community Care Licensing requirements for CPR and First Aid classes?
State law requires all licensed child care providers to complete 15 hours of course work, which includes seven hours of pediatric first aid and pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (First Aid/CPR), and eight additional hours on topics related to preventing illnesses and injuries. Make sure the pediatric first aid, pediatric CPR, or a preventive health training program you have chosen is still approved by the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA). Acceptable courses are First Aid/CPR, and preventive health and safety practices taught by programs approved by the EMSA, courses taught in accredited colleges and universities, or by the American Red Cross; and the pediatric First Aid/CPR courses taught by the American Heart Association. EMSA approved programs must affix stickers to their course completion cards.
