What are the clinical features of trichomoniasis in men?
• Of men with trichomoniasis, 15–50% are asymptomatic and usually present as sexual partners of infected women. • The most common presenting symptoms are urethral discharge or dysuria, or both. • Urethral discharge is present in 50–60% of men (usually only small or moderate amounts). • Rarely, the discharge can be copious. • Other clinical features include: • Balanitis. • Urethral irritation. • Urinary frequency. • Occasionally, men can present with prostatitis. • For more information, see the CKS topics on Balanitis, Prostatitis – acute, Prostatitis – chronic, and Urethritis – male.
