Cardiac amyloidosis may be a part of generalized amyloidosis of the AA type or AL type. Clinically important cardiac amyloid deposits (AL type) can occur in patients with multiple myeloma. Cardiac amyloidosis may be an isolated finding in older individuals. These patients may present with intractable heart failure.
