What are the clauses under which USA visa will be refused?
The visa result after the interview will be either Grant or Refusal under clause 214(b). At times the USA Consulate will hold the visa for a security background check to complete the administrative procedure which is under clause 221(g) pink/Blue slip. If a student gets refusal under 214(b), he/she is eligible to go for the visa after 3 working days. Under 221(g) which is a hold of the visa for the administrative procedure, the student has to wait for the case to be completed – means there is no provision to re-file the visa till the case gets cleared. In this case the student is supposed to send the required documents mentioned in the Pink/Blue slip to the consular e mail address’s docs are generally the Resume, SOP, Research interests, financial etc. The passport is also retained at the embassy. Once these docs go into the database they would further cross check. Generally the visa gets through in 10-30 days extra after receipt of the pink /Blue slip.
