What are the Circumstances of cherokee nation v georgia?
The white men wanted Cherokee land the Cherokee basically said “no way!”. So some politicians found two drink Indians in the woods and deceived them into signing a document that allowed them to start selling their land. The Cherokee filed a law suit. Because the Cherokee are a seperate nation, only the president and federal government were allowed to deal with the case. The suit went before John Marshall (a very powerful man) and he agreed to give the Cherokee back their land. But unless this law was enforced, it was really of no use. Andrew Jackson , from Tennessee, refused to give the Cherokee back their land. In response, Marshall says they have to leave. Most support Jackson’s attitude and a law was passed to remove the Cherokee.
