What are the Check Verification Digits and why is MTO capturing them?

The Check Verification Digits (CVD) are included on the reverse side of newly issued credit cards. They are the last 3 or 4 digits after the credit card number. Some cards may not have the CVD. Capturing the CVD provides a higher level of comfort and security to customers since, in all likelihood, the purchaser will need to refer to the actual credit card. The CVD are not included on credit card statements or receipts. The CVD entry is currently optional.
