What are the cheapest nappy covers to make?
Covers made from 2 layers of microfleece or polar fleece are ultra cheap but very effective for night nappies or daywear around the house. I don’t really recommend them for outings as much as they rely on evaporation to work, and when your bub is seated for some time, they are prone to compression leaks. An easy way to make them is to draw a rough outline of the nappy you need a cover for, and add a centimetre or two to the pattern. Cut the fabric and place the right sides facing each other. Sew the two pieces of fabric together adding elastic at the legs and waist, turn it inside out and you have a cheap, effective and very fast drying nappy cover. As well as microfleece nappy covers, woollen covers made from an old jumper are a cheap way of getting an effective night cover. There’s heaps of sites you can find through a google search that will show you how to make one from a jumper. You can even use the arms of an old jumper to make woollen longies for winter.
