What are the charecteristics of the Dutch economy and what can their industry offer?
The Netherlands has a favourable geographical location. Our business community is internationally oriented. The Netherlands possesses some strong technological clusters, like those for agriculture/food, materials, the maritime cluster, the cluster for electronics/mechatronics/ embedded software, the cluster of the chemical/petrochemical industry and the printing industry with publishing houses. What’s more, many Dutch companies occupy a leading position in international markets, including niche markets. All in all, we are not in bad shape. Increasing internationalisation and individualisation are radically changing the market conditions for industry. Among other things, the enlargement of the European Union and the WTO developments (in due course) will create attractive new sales markets.
