What are the characteristics required to be an software QA professional?
— AS At Accenture, we prefer software QA professionals who have lived in the software development world and really “get” software. It is tremendously helpful to the QA process to have folks with firsthand software development experience. They possess a thorough understanding of not just how software works (or is supposed to work), but also of the development process and pitfalls. We also look for skills and experience with certain quality certifications (CMMI, ISO 9000 and other quality certification standards). For example, experience with ITIL — a set of standard IT process definitions and process models developed in the U.K. — is a big plus. QA professionals also should be familiar with the framework standards for how IT organizations should be set up and run. In addition to experience, we look for QA professionals who are attentive to detail, are inquisitive and ask excellent questions.
