What are the characteristics of microcirculation?
1. The capillaries in the microcirculation are enormous in total length, which is about 90-110 thousand kilometers i.e. two and half the perimeters of the earth. The capillaries are distributed at every corner of the human body. 2. The capillaries in the microcirculation system are numerous i.e. about 30 billion in m\number. 3. The wall of the capillary of the microcirculation is very thin. The thickness of it is only one hundredth of that of a piece of common white paper. It is helpful for material exchange and coming in and going out of leukocytes. The capillaries are easy to pass through and have not the expansion and contraction ability as the aortas. 4. The capillaries are very small in size i.e. one twentieth of a mans hair. 5. The pressure and pressure difference are small in the capillary chamber with the normal average microcirculation pressure being only about 20 mm Hg.
