Fast Twitch: -faster to contract, but also faster to fatigue than slow twitch -it relies heavily on anaerobic respiration because unlike slow twich, it does NOT have lots of myoglobin around. (Type I muscle has LOTS of myoglobin given it its’ characteristic red color) -Fast twitch fibers do NOT have the dense network of capillary beds around it like slow twich fibers do because it is not meant to be used for sustained periods of strenuous activity. -Fast twitch muscle fibers usually have a high content of Creatine Phosphate stores, whereas slow twitch have high triglyceride stores.
