What are the characteristics of f plasmids?
A plasmid is a piece of DNA that has broken off and is capable of replicating without the rest of the DNA string. A plasmid can either be circular or linear. Plasmids are generally found in bacteria and can be injected or may infect it’s host. Plasmids are capable of altering the DNA of it’s host. This can be helpful in some respects to it’s host in that the host (bacteria) may be able to survive it’s surroundings.
