It is simple. If it is used properly and does not break, then you are protected against HIV. Condoms are very effective in HIV prevention. HIV is not a game of chances and statistics. You are either protected or you are not. If you are not, you have a chance of contracting HIV. Vaginal sex carries a risk of 1 to 1000 per exposure. The risk is low. But it is possible that you get it the first time you have unprotected sex OR it is possible that you have 1000 intercourse and still do not get it. It is just a number. You hvae to protect yourself and do not rely on chances/statistics. Keep up the good work of using condoms when you do not know the status of your partner.
