What are the chances on recovering from drug induced psychosis?
My first psychotic experience was while smoking marijuana. I have not smoked in about 10 years now, and I still have the occasional episode and I’ve been hospitalized once since I stopped smoking. Your chances of recovering will have a lot to do with the underlying cause. Unfortunately it is very difficult to predict. I have tried seroquel, riperdal, and zyprexa. None of these meds seemed to help long term. In the short term they seemed to help, but then my symptoms came back very strongly. I have read that drug induced psychosis often does not respond well to the antipsychotics, so it may be a different mechanism. If you are suffering from drug induced psychosis, I would recommend that you at least give them a try to see if you benefit from them.
