What are the challenges you encounter in caring for such a diverse group of animals?
Most people don’t realize how much hard work goes into caring for animals. Keepers do a lot more than clean stalls. We’re responsible for the physical and mental well-being of our animals so we have to be knowledgeable about the species we work with, about animal training, and about environmental enrichment. We’re also here to educate the public about the animals in order to promote conservation. There are many aspects to the job of animal keeping and most keepers these days are well-educated.
