What are the challenges of implementing XBRL GL?
To optimize the use of XBRL GL, users must invest in understanding two things: the XBRL GL model and XML Schema/XBRL. XBRL GL provides a mature model for representing information through an ERP system. As such, it can facilitate todays integration by eliminating that design phase, but does require the implementer to understand the XBRL GL semantic model. XBRL GL works with standard XML Schema tooling, but provides additional information in the linkbases, so use of this optional information requires additional understanding of the XBRL Specification as well.
